The Ukrainian Women’s Hockey Team has been collected for the first time since 1994

In the 90s of the last century, the Women’s Ice Hockey Team was created on the basis of Kharkiv and Kyiv Physical Education Institutes and managed to play on two European Championships.

In May 2018, the Executive Committee of the Ukrainian Hockey Federation decided to establish a women’s national team.

The President of the Federal District of Ukraine, Anatoly Brezvin: “Given the successful experience of holding two Ukrainian hockey championships among women, the Ukrainian Hockey Federation has decided to establish a national women’s national team of Ukraine, and necessary documents have been prepared and sent to the International Federation.”

The base of the team was athletes of five Ukrainian clubs: Panthers (Kharkiv), Ukrayinochka (Kyiv), Dniprovsky Bilky(Dnipro), Korolevy Dnipra (Dnipro), Lavina (Kremenchuk).

Vadim  Radchenko, the head coach of the National Women’s Team of Ukraine on Ice Hockey, became the Kharkiv Panther’s team in the previous season. Before that Vadim led the Kharkiv team “Youth” (in the season 2015-2016 years), worked as a trainer in Kharkiv SDYUSSHOR (The youth sport specialized school of the Olympics reserve).

The first training camp in the season 2018-2019 team began on September 17, 2018. The total number sportsmen were 25, who took part in the completing:

On September 18-29, the team conducted two-time training sessions on the ice of the STCU Liodohrai and classes on general physical training in Bohuslav town.

All in all, in this season the team will have three training sessions, and it is planned to have  control matches.

The first official tournament of the national women’s team of Ukraine on ice hockey will qualify for the 2019 World Championship in the IIS Division, which will take place on January 16-23 in Cape Town, South Africa. In addition to the hosts, the rivals of Ukrainian women will be teams from Bulgaria, Hong Kong and Belgium.
